Cheryl Rains, owner and director of the Moya Strast Ballet Theater, has been teaching and coaching for 35 years. Her training as a former student included instructors widely known from all over Russia, such as Yuli Zorov of the Bolshoi School of Ballet and the Moiseyev Ballet, Alexander Filipov of the Bolshoi Academy, Vaganova Academy, and the Eglevsky Ballet, Kaleria Fedichiva, graduate of the Kirov Ballet and Kirov Star, and many more.

Ms. Rains was accepted into the Hofstra Dance Program, and performed professionally with the Long Island Opera Company. She was also invited by Ms. Fedichiva to join her company at the age of 22. Her intensive training and coaching has earned her students places in numerous summer intensives and full-time programs including but not limited to: American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, Houston Ballet Academy, and Joffrey Ballet School.

Here, at Moya Strast Ballet Theater, we understand that not everyone wants to become a professional ballet dancer. However, we ensure that every student gets a quality ballet education even if one chooses to dance recreationally. Our Long Island ballet school is committed to helping dancers gain the skills and technique necessary to reach their goals, whether that is making the school dance team or getting accepted to one of the top dance programs in the world. Nothing is impossible with the right teaching methods and passionate instructors invested in their students’ success.
